    Summary

    A new enzyme immunoassay accurately measures ferritin in human serum. This method, using beta-D-galactosidase, offers sensitivity comparable to radioimmunoassay for ferritin quantitation.

    Background:

    • Ferritin is a key protein for iron storage.
    • Accurate ferritin measurement is crucial for diagnosing various conditions, including anemia and iron overload.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To develop and validate a novel enzyme immunoassay (EIA) for quantifying ferritin levels in human serum.
    • To assess the sensitivity and comparability of the developed EIA against established methods.

    • An enzyme immunoassay utilizing beta-D-galactosidase as the enzyme label was developed.
    • Human serum samples were analyzed using the new EIA.
