Purpose of the Study:

  • To identify and quantify permanent sequelae following sports injuries in pediatric and adolescent populations.
  • To analyze factors influencing the development of permanent sequelae.

  • Prospective cohort study initiated in 1985, enrolling children (6-15 years) with sports injuries in Trieste, Italy.
  • Injuries were classified using the Abbreviated Injury Scale (AIS); moderate to severe (AIS ≥ 2) injuries were followed longitudinally.
  • Follow-up assessments were conducted in 1988 and 1997 to evaluate permanent sequelae.
