  • Macular changes and serous retinal detachment can occur.

Observation:

  • A 20-year-old male presented with a congenital optic disc pit.
  • Associated macular cyst-like changes and serous retinal detachment were noted.
  • Visual impairment was present in the affected eye.

Findings:

  • Pars-plana-vitrectomy with posterior vitreous detachment and gas tamponade was performed.
  • Temporary pneumatic displacement of subretinal fluid led to improved visual acuity (6/9).
  • Persistent schisis-like changes were observed in the macula.
