  • Biophysics

Background:

  • Accurate spatial mapping of low-concentration metabolites in the human brain is crucial for understanding neurological conditions.
  • Existing imaging techniques may face limitations in efficiency, resolution, or metabolite specificity.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To develop and validate a novel Double Echo-Filter Metabolite Imaging (DEFMI) technique for enhanced spatial mapping of brain metabolites.
  • To assess the feasibility and performance of DEFMI in phantom and human brain studies.

Main Methods:

  • Implementation of a DEFMI technique for simultaneous acquisition of two metabolite images.
  • Utilizing conventional imaging acquisition with efficient water and lipid suppression.
  • Conducting experiments on phantoms and human brains at 4 Tesla.
