The school nurse as a health counselor

It is difficult for school nurses to meet the many and varied demands of students, school personnel, and parents. This is especially true since the expectations of each may differ in different circumstances. However, if the school nurse has a clear perception of her own role and its inherent limits, if she takes every opportunity for staff development through inservice education or graduate work in counseling and human development, then she is in a unique and invaluable position to assume a role of major importance in the pupil personnel team within the school.
