[Low frequency ultrasound therapy in chronic suppurative otitis media]

A novel low-frequency ultrasound unit "Tonsillor-2" equipped with a device for treatment of middle ear diseases and a set of ultrasonic wave guides was employed in the treatment of 434 patients. A short-term response was achieved in 93% of the patients. Indications to and techniques of treatment of otitis media purulenta chronica (OMPC) are described. The method of low-frequency ultrasound therapy of OMPC can be used in monotherapy, in preoperative preparation, in postoperative management. Low frequency 25-27 kHz ultrasound is shown not to diminish antimicrobial drug activity.
