Summary

Genes for RNA polymerases I and III subunits from fission yeast (Schizosaccharomyces pombe) successfully replaced their counterparts in budding yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae). This demonstrates functional conservation of these essential nuclear RNA polymerase components.
