Multifocal chorioretinitis with panuveitis (MCP) can cause significant iris vessel changes, often undetected by standard examination. Fluorescein angiography (IAG) reveals these abnormalities, aiding surgical prognosis.

Background:

  • Multifocal chorioretinitis with panuveitis (MCP) is a chronic inflammatory condition affecting the peripheral retina and choroid.
  • While anterior segment involvement is typically mild, severe inflammation can arise post-cataract surgery, potentially necessitating intraocular lens (IOL) explantation or primary aphakia.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate iris vascular involvement in patients with MCP using fluorescein angiography (IAG).
  • To assess the utility of IAG in predicting surgical outcomes for MCP patients undergoing cataract surgery.

Main Methods:

  • Fluorescein angiography (IAG) was performed on 21 eyes of 13 patients diagnosed with MCP.
  • Pars plana vitrectomy (PPV) was conducted on 9 eyes due to vitreous opacification, with IAG performed pre- and post-surgery.
