Summary

Constrictive pericarditis from Coccidioides immitis infection is rare but serious. Successful treatment involved surgery and antifungal chemotherapy, leading to a good long-term outcome.

Findings:

  • The patient received successful surgical pericardiectomy and antifungal chemotherapy.
  • The patient remained well one year post-treatment.

Implications:

  • Localized Coccidioides immitis infection can cause severe cardiac disease.
  • Multimodal treatment including surgery and antifungals can be effective for this rare condition.
