Toward psycho-cultural approach in middle eastern societies

Western psychological theories of mental health create an illusion that the tenets (development, personality, psychopathology, psycho-evaluation, and therapy) they encompass are universal in nature. Asians, Africans, and South Americans (collective societies), however, differ substantially along these domains from Europeans and North Americans (individualistic societies). This article summarizes these cultural differences and introduces five other articles on this theme pertaining to cross-cultural differences.
