Human eosinophils release matrix metalloproteinase-9 on stimulation with TNF-alpha

Tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha) significantly increases matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) production by eosinophils. This suggests eosinophils contribute to airway remodeling in asthma through MMP-9.
