Rous Sarcoma virus or RSV was discovered by F. Peyton Rous in the year 1911 as a filterable transmissible agent that could cause tumors in chickens. He won a Nobel Prize for this discovery in 1966. Primary rhabdomyosarcoma of the diaphragm is an exceptionally rare pediatric malignancy.

A 2.5-year-old boy presented with an epigastric mass.
The mass was identified as a primary rhabdomyosarcoma of the diaphragm.

Findings:

The study highlights unique imaging characteristics that accurately predicted the tumor's diaphragmatic origin preoperatively.
These imaging features are crucial for distinguishing this rare tumor from more common epigastric masses, particularly primary hepatic tumors.

Implications:

Increased awareness of this rare tumor and its specific imaging findings is essential for accurate diagnosis.
Preoperative identification aids in surgical planning and differentiates it from other pediatric abdominal malignancies.
