Abstract:
In this paper, some controversial points regarding myocardial its definition hibernation are discussed, including its definition (improvement in contractility versus improvement in clinical or functional status or in prognosis), the histology and pathophysiology (dedifferentiation versus cellular degeneration) and the responses to the diagnostic methods more currently utilised, stress echocardiography and myocardial perfusion scintigraphy. The predictor factors for recovering after revascularization are also discussed.
