The location of zinc in dental silver amalgam

Abstract:
The phases in amalgams prepared from alloys of varying zinc content and with varying alloy-to-mercury ratios have been determined by means of X-ray diffraction. By measuring lattice constants of the phases in these amalgams it has been established that the major part of the zinc is dissolved in the gamma1 phase.
