Summary

Calculating blood vessel inner diameter (ID) is challenging. This study found that wall cross-sectional area (WCSA) is constant, enabling accurate ID calculation from outer diameter (OD) measurements in physiological experiments.

Background:

  • Vascular resistance is primarily determined by the inner (luminal) diameter (ID) of blood vessels.
