    Summary

Tuberculous uveitis patients frequently have cardiovascular diseases, including hypertension. Early diagnosis and integrated treatment of these concurrent conditions are crucial for preserving visual function.

    Area of Science:

    • Ophthalmology
    • Cardiology
    • Infectious Diseases

    Background:

    • Tuberculous uveitis is an ocular manifestation of tuberculosis.
    • Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are prevalent in patients with tuberculous uveitis.
    • Hypertension, both primary and secondary, is a common comorbidity.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the pattern of cardiovascular diseases in patients with tuberculous uveitis.
    • To explore the association between complicated tuberculous uveitis and cardiovascular abnormalities.
    • To evaluate the impact of concurrent conditions on visual function.

    Main Methods:

    • Retrospective study analyzing patient data.
    • Prevalence assessment of cardiovascular diseases and hypertension.
    • Correlation analysis between ocular findings, hemodynamic disorders, and CVDs.
    • Comparison of visual function between experimental and control groups.

    Main Results:

    • Cardiovascular diseases were present in 61% of patients.
    • Primary hypertension (34.6%) and secondary hypertension (8.6%) were prevalent.
    • Complicated tuberculous uveitis correlated with CVDs and hemodynamic disorders.
    • Significant visual function reduction observed in patients with concurrent abnormalities.

    Conclusions:

    • Patients with tuberculous uveitis and comorbid CVDs require systematic registration and continuous combined treatment.
    • Expanded functional studies are recommended for early CVD diagnosis in tuberculous uveitis patients.
    • Evaluating the efficacy of separate treatments for underlying and concomitant CVDs is important.
