Summary

The Partridge fracture stabilization method, used with other fixation techniques, showed good clinical results in 34 patients. This method is recommended for atypical long bone shaft fractures, especially when combined with intramedullary fixation.

Area of Science:

  • Orthopedic Surgery
  • Traumatology

Background:

  • The Partridge method is a surgical technique for fracture stabilization.
  • Its efficacy and optimal application, particularly in conjunction with other fixation methods, require evaluation.

Observation:

  • The study assessed the Partridge method in 34 patients (21 males, 13 females, aged 16-85) with long bone shaft fractures.
  • The method was consistently used alongside another fixation technique.
  • Six patients experienced refracture, either during treatment or due to intraoperative complications.

Findings:

  • The Partridge method demonstrated good clinical outcomes when combined with other fixation modalities.
  • No disturbances in bone union were observed in the treated patients.
  • The authors advocate for combining the Partridge method with intramedullary fixation.

Implications:

  • The Partridge method may expand the indications for intramedullary fixation.
  • It is recommended for complex or atypical surgical scenarios in long bone fracture management.
  • This approach shows promise for achieving successful bone healing without union complications.
