Summary

This study evaluated microvessel density (MVD) in bladder cancer biopsies using automated and semi-automated methods. Automated quantification is reliable for microvessel number and area when staining is high quality.

Background:

Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate semi-automatic and automatic image analysis techniques for quantifying MVD in TUR-T bladder cancer biopsies.
  • To compare biopsy results with cystectomy specimens.
  • To assess the reproducibility and observer variability of MVD quantification.

    • Automated methods minimize selection variability by enabling quantification of multiple areas.
