[Stable osteosynthesis in mandibular fractures using cold polymerizing polymethylmethacrylate "Kallocryl-K"]
Abstract:
The author describes a method for the stable osteosynthesis of mandibular fractures. Prefabricated cups of cold-curing poly(methylmethacrylate) were fixed to the fragments by means of freshly mixed methacrylate, which produced their stable union for the period of healing. Uneventful healing was confirmed by clinical and radiological examinations. Side-effects on the cardiovascular system which may be caused by the residual monomer were not observed.
