Summary

Primary duodenal mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphoma is rare. This case suggests Helicobacter pylori eradication may control duodenal MALToma, even with papilla of Vater involvement.

Background:

  • Primary duodenal mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphoma is an exceptionally rare gastrointestinal neoplasm.
  • Helicobacter pylori infection is a known risk factor for gastric MALT lymphoma, but its role in duodenal MALToma is less understood.

Observation:

  • A 55-year-old woman presented with a MALToma in the descending duodenum.
  • The tumor involved the papilla of Vater and showed submucosal infiltration.
  • The patient had a concurrent Helicobacter pylori infection in the stomach.

Findings:

  • Surgical resection was performed due to the tumor's location and infiltration.
  • Postoperative analysis revealed limited submucosal MALToma cell invasion.
  • No adjacent tissue invasion or lymph node metastasis was detected.
