Summary

Psoriasiform acral dermatitis (PAD) in children may be a manifestation of psoriasis, not a distinct condition. This study observed three children with PAD and psoriasis, suggesting a link requiring further investigation.

Background:

  • Psoriasiform acral dermatitis (PAD) is a recently described chronic dermatosis affecting digits without nail changes.
  • Its relationship to psoriasis, particularly in pediatric cases, remains unclear.

Observation:

  • Three children (ages 6-8) presented with features of PAD alongside existing psoriasis (vulgaris or palmoplantar).
  • Laboratory results were normal; skin biopsies showed spongiotic dermatitis and confirmed psoriasis in some cases.

Findings:

  • The condition exhibited a fluctuating course, with moderate improvement from calcipotriol ointment.
  • Two children showed spontaneous improvement, while one experienced worsening.
