Human effector CD8+ T cells, crucial for immunity, are best identified by CD56 expression. This marker, alongside CD8, precisely defines cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL) effector function and phenotype.

  • To investigate the role of CD56 (neuronal cell adhesion molecule) surface expression in defining human effector CD8+ T cell function.
  • To determine if CD56 is a more precise marker for cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL) effector function than previously identified markers.

  • Flow cytometry analysis of peripheral blood CD8+ T cells from adult donors.
