Summary

Splenectomy in chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML) patients showed no deaths or major complications in a small group. Further research is needed to determine optimal chemotherapy regimens post-splenectomy for CML treatment.

Background:

Chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML) is a myeloproliferative neoplasm.
Splenectomy is a surgical option for managing CML, particularly in cases of significant splenomegaly or complications.
The optimal management of CML patients undergoing splenectomy, especially regarding chemotherapy, requires further investigation.
