    Area of Science:

    • Cardiology
    • Endocrinology

    Background:

    • Ventricular tachycardia (VT) is a serious cardiac arrhythmia.
    • Myxoedema, or severe hypothyroidism, is rarely associated with VT.

    Observation:

    • This paper details a rare case of recurrent ventricular tachycardia and ventricular fibrillation in a patient with hypothyroidism.
    • Unlike previously reported cases, this arrhythmia was not linked to coronary heart disease or thyroid hormone treatment.

    Findings:

    • The patient experienced recurrent episodes of ventricular tachycardia and ventricular fibrillation.
    • No established causes for the ventricular arrhythmias were identified in this hypothyroid patient.

    Implications:

    • This case expands the understanding of potential cardiac complications in hypothyroidism.
    • Further research is needed to elucidate the mechanisms linking hypothyroidism to ventricular arrhythmias.
