Summary

This case report highlights that unusual radiological findings, such as hilar pseudo-lymphadenopathy, should not prevent the diagnosis of Bronchiolitis Obliterans Organizing Pneumonia (BOOP). Early diagnosis is crucial for effective treatment.

Area of Science:

  • Pulmonology
  • Radiology
  • Pathology

Background:

  • Bronchiolitis Obliterans Organizing Pneumonia (BOOP) is an idiopathic interstitial pneumonia.
  • Radiological manifestations of BOOP can be diverse and sometimes atypical.

Observation:

  • A unique case of BOOP presenting with hilar pseudo-lymphadenopathy is described.
  • This presentation mimicked lymphomatous involvement of the hilum.

Findings:

  • The case demonstrates that atypical radiological findings can be associated with BOOP.
  • Histopathological confirmation remains the gold standard for diagnosing BOOP.

Implications:

  • Radiologists and clinicians should consider BOOP in the differential diagnosis of hilar pseudo-lymphadenopathy.

Related Experiment Videos

  • Atypical imaging findings should not deter the diagnostic process for BOOP, emphasizing the need for integrated clinical and radiological assessment.
