[Achilles tendon rupture: epidemiology, etiology, diagnosis and current treatment possibilities]

Treatment of Achilles tendon rupture is up to date not standardized. Open surgical repair in different techniques, percutaneous repair and conservative treatment is controversial in discussion. The following paper shows the different techniques used today in Achilles tendon rupture. Results are represented and discussed. Followed by a recommendation of treatment in acute Achilles tendon ruptures.
