Abstract:
For nurses, patient advocacy has always been a responsibility of practice. Advocacy is rooted in the concept of individual rights. Consumers of the product of health care now have increased protection because of the Patients' Bill of Rights Act of 1998. Legislation has created a template to outline important rights and processes to assure quality health care.
