[Neurosurgical indications in craniofacial injuries]

Abstract:
The cerebral complications of cranio-facial trauma require urgent neurosurgical assessment and intervention. Apart from such cases, the cooperation of the neurosurgeon is also necessary when the anterior part of the base of the skull must be explored. This may be necessary either in the presence of a cerebrospinal fluid leak with rhinorrhoea or because the reduction and fixation of orbito-facial fractures requires an intracranial approach. Early treatment, at the same time, of all cranial, basal and orbito-facial lesions is recommended.
