[Immunologic aspects of granulocyte transfusions]

Immunologic problems appear to have a fundamental bearing on the survival of transfused white blood cells. Detailed study of HLA and non-HLA antigens of granulocytes and a systematic search for transfusion-induced antibodies make it possible to evaluate the respective importance of the different antigenic systems. This should lead to better clinical tolerance and optimum therapeutic effectiveness of granulocyte transfusions.
