Summary

Vascular permeability factor/vascular endothelial growth factor (VPF/VEGF) drives new blood vessel formation in tumors and physiological processes. This cytokine interacts with endothelial receptors, initiating an angiogenic cascade that increases vascular permeability and vessel growth.
