    Area of Science:

    • Nephrology
    • Pharmacology

    Background:

    • Chronic glomerulonephritis (CGN) is a progressive kidney disease.
    • Effective treatment options for CGN are crucial for patient outcomes.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To evaluate the efficacy and safety of the polyenzyme drug vobenzim in patients with chronic glomerulonephritis.

    Main Methods:

    • A randomized controlled trial involving 174 CGN patients.
    • The study group (39 patients) received conventional therapy plus vobenzim.
    • The control group (135 patients) received conventional therapy alone.

    Main Results:

    • A significantly higher response rate (61.5%) was observed in the vobenzim group compared to the control group (17.8%) after 3-6 months.
    • No adverse side effects were reported with vobenzim treatment in CGN patients.

    Conclusions:

    • Enzyme therapy with vobenzim is a safe and effective treatment modality for chronic glomerulonephritis.
    • Vobenzim offers a promising therapeutic option for managing CGN.
