Spontaneous involution of a large retinal arterial macroaneurysm

Summary
This case report details an exceptionally large acquired retinal macroaneurysm. Indocyanine green angiography proved valuable in diagnosing this rare, oversized retinal arterial macroaneurysm.

Background:

- Indocyanine green (ICG) angiography confirmed the mass was continuous with the inferotemporal retinal artery.
- ICG dye leakage from the artery into the mass lumen with pulsation was observed.
- The large macroaneurysm showed spontaneous involution over six months.
Implications:
- Retinal macroaneurysms can exceptionally large, exceeding typical dimensions.
- ICG angiography is an effective diagnostic tool for large retinal arterial macroaneurysms.
- This case highlights the potential for spontaneous resolution of giant macroaneurysms.
