Summary

Endoscopic bone grafting offers a less invasive solution for delayed or nonunion fractures of the femur and humerus. This technique achieved successful bone healing in most patients, reducing recovery time.

Background:

  • Delayed union and nonunion fractures of the femoral and humeral shafts pose significant clinical challenges.

Observation:

  • Eight patients with delayed union or nonunion of diaphyseal femoral or humeral fractures underwent endoscopic bone grafting.
  • The average time from initial intervention to endoscopic bone grafting was 7.3 months.

Findings:

  • Six out of eight patients achieved bone union, with an average healing time of 4.1 months post-procedure.
  • Two patients required non-endoscopic revision surgery due to unsatisfactory healing.
  • No intraoperative or postoperative complications were reported.
