Background:

  • Tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC) is an autosomal dominant disorder affecting multiple systems.
  • It has two known genetic loci: TSC1 on chromosome 9q34 and TSC2 on chromosome 16p13.3.
  • TSC affects approximately 1 in 5,000-6,000 individuals across all racial groups.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To perform complete mutation analysis of the TSC2 gene in 42 families with Tuberous sclerosis complex.
  • To identify specific mutations within the TSC2 gene associated with TSC.
  • To investigate the prevalence of TSC2 mutations in sporadic versus familial TSC cases.
