Major aortic surgery, especially thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysm (TAAA) repair, causes cardiac injury. Oxidative stress, indicated by lower antioxidant status and higher lipid hydroperoxides, correlates with myocardial damage (troponin-T release) after TAAA surgery.
