    Forceful Eyelid Closure Syndrome (FECS) causes objective tinnitus (OT) through tensor tympani muscle (TTM) contraction. This syndrome is linked to hearing loss, tympanic membrane changes, and impedance audiometry findings.

    Background:

    • Objective tinnitus (OT) can result from tensor tympani muscle (TTM) contractions.
    • Forceful eyelid closure can trigger TTM contraction and subsequent OT.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To describe the characteristics of Forceful Eyelid Closure Syndrome (FECS).
    • To investigate the relationship between eyelid closure, TTM activity, and auditory findings.

    Main Methods:

    • Clinical observation and case reporting of FECS.
    • Otomicrosopic examination of the tympanic membrane (TM).
    • Impedance audiometry to assess middle ear function.

    Main Results:

    • FECS is characterized by objective tinnitus, hearing loss (primarily low frequencies), TM retraction (25%), and increased impedance (75%).
    • Some patients showed no response to otoscopy or impedance testing.

    • Forceful Eyelid Closure Syndrome is a distinct entity with specific audiological and otoscopic findings.
    • The TTM plays a significant role in the generation of objective tinnitus associated with forceful eyelid closure.
