Summary

Serum leptin levels increase significantly during the luteal phase of the menstrual cycle compared to the follicular phase. This study analyzed leptin in relation to other hormones in normally ovulating women.

  • A strong positive correlation (r=0.91) was observed between leptin levels and menstrual cycle progression.

Conclusions:

  • Serum leptin levels exhibit a distinct pattern during the menstrual cycle, rising in the luteal phase.
  • The physiological role of elevated luteal phase leptin remains to be elucidated.
