Background:

  • Previous research indicated microgravity (Cosmos 2044) significantly reduced testosterone production (>80%) in rats after 14 days.
  • Spermatogenesis was largely unaffected by microgravity exposure in prior studies.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the impact of hypergravity (2G) on testicular function in male rats.
  • To compare the effects of hypergravity with known microgravity effects on reproductive parameters.

  • Male rats (60 days old) were subjected to 14 days of centrifugation at 2G or maintained at unit gravity (control).
  • Key testicular parameters including testosterone levels, testes weight, and spermatogenesis were assessed.
