QT Dispersion: Current and Future Clinical Role

QT dispersion calculated from the standard 12-lead ECG has emerged as a noninvasiveive measurement of the degree of inhomogeneity in myocardial repolarization. The studies evaluating predictive value of QT dispersion for identification of patients at increased risk for serious ventricular arrhythmias and sudden cardiac death have been conducted in multiple disease states and show promising results. This review focuses on the conceptual evolution, currently accepted methodology, and clinical and research applications of QT dispersion measurements.
