Area of Science:

  • Neurology
  • Infectious Diseases
  • Neurosurgery

Background:

  • Tuberculomas are granulomatous masses caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
  • Brainstem tuberculomas are exceptionally rare, posing diagnostic challenges.

Observation:

  • Two cases of brainstem tuberculomas are presented.
  • Patients presented with space-occupying lesions in the brainstem.

Findings:

  • Both cases showed a favorable outcome with medical treatment exclusively.
  • No surgical intervention was required.

Implications:

  • Tuberculomas should be included in the differential diagnosis for brainstem space-occupying lesions.
  • Medical management alone can be effective for brainstem tuberculomas.
