[Operative treatment of intralobar pulmonary sequestration (author's transl)]

Among 2700 thoracotomies at the Ruhrlandklinik Essen we have operated eight cases of intralobar pulmonary sequestration. The malformation was found to be situated four times in the left lower lobe, three times in the right lower lobe, and one time in the middle lobe. The only way of curing the suffering consists of surgical interference. At six of eight cases we had to performe a lobectomy, two patients with obviously demarcated alterations have been treated by an exstirpation.
