Abstract:
In Poland and all over the world, there is a significant increase in the number of elderly persons (over 65 years). Evidently, cardiovascular disorders occur more frequently in the middle-aged and older people. Approximately 60 to 75% of persons over 65 years and older suffer from the myocardial ischaemic disorder or atherosclerosis. In the elderly, the same risk factors as in the other age groups are present, i.e. lipids metabolism failure, arterial hypertension, tobacco smoking, carbohydrates metabolism dysfunction, obesity, the lack of physical activity. The right arterial hypertension and lipids and carbohydrates metabolism dysfunction treatment connected with the cut out of the tobacco smoking are highly beneficial in the elderly suffering from the myocardial ischaemic disorder.
