Summary

Purpose of the Study:

  • To assess the andrological status of male soldiers exposed to Cesium-137 (Cs-137).
  • To investigate the correlation between radiation exposure and semen analysis findings.
  • To highlight the importance of andrological screening post-radiation exposure.

Main Methods:

  • Semen analyses were performed on seven male soldiers exposed to Cs-137.
  • Serum follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH) levels were measured.
  • Physical andrological examinations were conducted.

  • Four patients presented with complete azoospermia (no sperm).
  • Three of the azoospermic patients had elevated FSH, and two had elevated LH.
