Abstract:
The diffusing capacity of the lung, DL, is a critical physiological parameter, yet the currently accepted clinical model (Jones-Meade) assumes a well-mixed alveolar region, and a constant DL independent of alveolar volume, VA, despite experimental evidence to the contrary.
