Extraction and filtering in ultrasonic field: finite element modelling and simulation of the processes

In this research, the use of powerful sonification is studied in making the extraction of tannins more efficient. A combined extraction-filtration system using sonification was designed and modelled. Preliminary extraction studies were carried out to show the effect of ultrasound in extraction. In these experiments high-intensity ultrasound was utilised in extraction of tannins of Salix phylicifolia. Different solvents were used in extraction experiments. Pickled sheepskin was tanned with the extracts and with some other vegetable tannins for comparisons.
