Abstract:
A case of esophagopleural fistula in a 54-year-old man who underwent pneumonectomy for bronchogenic carcinoma is described. As uncommon and hitherto unknown complications postprandial syncopes and a letal arrosion of the right cardiac atrium occurred. The pathogenesis of the esophagopleural fistula, the clinical features, and the pathophysiological mechanism of the swallow syncope are discussed.
