Melatonin suppression by light in euthymic bipolar and unipolar patients

Bipolar I disorder patients showed abnormal melatonin secretion, including lower levels and later timing, but not increased light sensitivity. These findings suggest circadian rhythm disruption may be a vulnerability marker for bipolar illness.
