Abstract:
In recent years a growing interest has emerged in measuring the outcomes of nursing practice. Although the administration of as required (PRN) medication to psychiatric in-patients is a frequent function performed by psychiatric nurses, nursing literature reveals little research in this important area of practice. As the results of a descriptive study are presented, few psychiatric nursing texts have attempted to address the issues involved.
