Do sympathetic nerves release noradrenaline in "quanta"?

Sympathetic neurotransmitters like ATP and noradrenaline are released in discrete packets called "quanta." New research suggests this release is intermittent, with single vesicles releasing their contents from a few sites, but the exact quantal size remains debated.
