Summary

Human herpesvirus 6 (HHV-6) and HHV-7 do not appear to cause active systemic infection in multiple sclerosis (MS) patients. Viral sequences in PBMCs remain in a non-transcriptional state, suggesting further research into CNS viral persistence is needed.
